Dental Bleaching

IN-CHAIR BLEACHING

This procedure is done in the dental chair with the application of a high concentration of tooth bleaching agent for a short period of time. This procedure may need to be repeated 2 to 3 times for the desired result.
Crown and Bridge

CROWN & BRIDGE WORK

A crown or bridge is a fixed prosthetic device that is cemented on teeth to replace severely damaged, decayed or missing teeth. Crowns and bridges can be manufactured from porcelain fused to zirconia or porcelain fused to metal. As each patient is different, so each tooth differs as well and the dentist will be able to advise the patient as to which crown or bridge material will be best suited to the case.

Preventative

PREVENTATIVE

Preventative dentistry is a key part of our practice. We believe that the promotion of proper oral health procedures not only ensures good oral health, but also promotes good physical health as well. Our dental team can perform scale and polish procedures, periodontal chartings, place fissure-sealants, fluoride treatments and provide oral health education on maintaining excellent oral hygiene.

Surgical

Impactions

IMPACTIONS

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt in the mouth. Sometimes there is not enough space within the dental arch for wisdom teeth to erupt properly. Therefore they often can become impacted/embedded at an abnormal angle. When symptoms include infection, swelling and inability to open the mouth as well as pain it needs to be surgically removed.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants are nickel titanium devices placed in the jaw bone to replace a missing tooth/teeth. Different prosthetic devices can be placed on an implant to restore function and aesthetics for instance; crowns, bridges or dentures.

Please note that implant procedures only take place in the Durbanville practice.
Extractions

EXTRACTIONS

Extraction is the surgical removal of teeth. Most extractions can be done in the dental chair with local anaesthetic. Extractions can also be done under conscious sedation as well as general anaesthesia in theatre.

Restorative

Crown and Bridge

RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY

Restorations (fillings) are the most cost effective treatments to repair teeth damaged by decay. Filling material used can be a composite resin (tooth coloured fillings) / amalgam (silver coloured fillings). As each patient is different, so each tooth differs as well, and the dentist will be able to advise to which filling material will be best suited.
Endodontic

ENDODONTIC (ROOT CANAL)

Endodontic treatment involves the removal of the nerve of the tooth (pulpal tissue), the mechanical cleaning of the root canal and the filling of the root canal with a special filling material. All our dentists use nickel-titanium rotary instruments to ensure proper cleansing of the root canals.

Anesthesia

Conscious Sedation

CONSCIOUS SEDATION

Conscious sedation is a very popular method used in dentistry to perform procedures, dealing effectively with the fear factor. There is no need to go to a theatre in such an instance, saving a lot of money and time.
General Anaesthesia

GENERAL ANESTHESIA

General anesthesia for dentistry is a common way of treating the non-cooperative patient, the compromised patient due to fear, patients with restricted abilities and in cases where lengthy, complicated procedures need to be done. Considerations should always be given to the possibility of local anesthetic techniques with or without conscious sedation. Patients requiring general anesthesia for dental work are frequently children or individuals with learning difficulties. The standards of general anesthesia for dentistry should be the same as those in any other setting.

Dentures

DENTURES

Dentures are removable prosthetic appliances that replace missing or lost teeth. We can manufacture full dentures, partial dentures, acrylic dentures, nylon dentures, metal-based dentures, and implant-supported overdentures.

We make use of registered and skilled dental laboratories within the area, which also allows for same-day denture repairs where possible.
