What is cerec crown?
For you, the patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling, no messy impressions and no provisional crowns, meaning you save more time.
A dental crown is a cap that completely covers and encases your existing tooth. Dental crowns are made of ceramic and designed to mimic the natural appearance of your teeth. For decades, dentists have turned to dental crowns to repair seriously damaged teeth or seriously decayed teeth. There are also other reasons for a crown to be placed
Unlike the vast majority of dental crowns, cerec crowns only take ONE appointment to place.
Cerec saves time
Normally getting a crown takes two or more visits more than a week apart from the temporary crown to the permanent crown. With cerec crowns you eliminate all of that.
The dentist prepares your tooth, but instead of sending the crown off to a laboratory to be made, the dentist inputs the information into the cerec machine, where your new crown is made there and then. The dentist then places your crown in the same visit.
We produce our crowns with high quality ceramic materials.
The CEREC® machine helps the Dentist create the restoration for your tooth. The CEREC 4 software takes the digital picture and converts it into a 3-dimensional virtual model on the computer screen. Within a few minutes, the restoration design data is sent to a separate milling machine in the office. A ceramic block that matches your tooth shade is placed in the milling machine. About 30 – 40minutes later, your all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and ready to bond in place. Finally, your Dentist tries the restoration in your mouth to ensure proper fit and bite. The restoration is then polished and bonded to the prepared tooth. All of this is done in a single appointment! Ask your Dentist about CEREC® today.
We do CEREC crowns at our Somerset West branch.
